This is the oval sibling of our round Algeria flag medal: the same gold double-ring border, the same pointed ribbon tails, but the disc is stretched into a wide ellipse rather than a perfect circle — a shape that reads better on a longer, narrower panel like a car boot lid or a laptop hinge strip.
The flag inside is unchanged: green for Islam, white for peace, and the red crescent and star adopted at independence from France in 1962. Algeria is Africa's largest country by land area, and the Sahara desert covers roughly four-fifths of it — a fact worth knowing before assuming the whole country looks like the green half of its own flag.
