The Commonwealth Star was added to the flag to stand for the federation of the Australian colonies in 1901; it first had six points, and a seventh was added in 1908 for the territories. On this hexagon badge it takes centre stage in the lower half, under a wide Union Jack.
The six-sided shape has a gloss sheen and a thin pale edge, and the blue deepens towards the bottom point. Only the canton and the Commonwealth Star are shown — the Southern Cross is cropped out — so it is a bold, simple emblem rather than a full flag.
The hexagon suits a helmet, a bike frame, a laptop or a gear case. Two come in each pack. Press each on from the centre and run a finger along each straight side.
