GS stands for Gelände/Straße, German for off-road and road, and it has been the name of BMW's dual-purpose bikes since the R80 G/S arrived in 1980. This pair carries just those two letters, drawn large: a broad rounded G and a heavy S, each split by thin slanted gaps that give them a cut-stencil look.
With no other text to read, the letters work at almost any size. Big sizes suit the side of a pannier or the lid of a top box, while small ones fit a mudguard or a helmet shell. Each letter is cut in separate pieces and held in place by the transfer tape, so spacing is exactly as drawn.
The GS badge appears on the R1250GS, R1200GS, F900GS and F800GS, so this lettering fits any of them.
