Yamato was the heaviest battleship ever put to sea, launched in 1940 for the Imperial Japanese Navy with nine 46cm guns, the largest ever mounted on a warship, and sunk in April 1945 on a one-way sortie towards Okinawa. In Japan she has a second life as the hull of the Space Battleship Yamato animation, which is why the silhouette turns up on cars, laptops and model-kit boxes as often as on naval history shelves.
The cut is the ship in profile: a long hull with the distinctive flared bow, the towering bridge rising in steps behind the forward turrets, the single raked funnel, the rear tower and the aft turret, with the gun barrels drawn as thin raised lines. It is one solid piece of vinyl with the waterline as its bottom edge, about four times longer than it is tall.
Two stickers come in each pack as mirror images, one steaming left and one right, for the two sides of a car, a model case or a laptop. At the 10cm preset the ship is a thin badge; 30cm shows the superstructure properly; custom sizes to 120cm are cut for a wall or a door. Nineteen colours are available; black or grey on a pale surface, white on tinted glass.
