Poultry keepers and farm shops tend to want something simple that can sit on a van, a sign, an egg box or a coop door, and this emblem is built for that job. It looks like a hen's head set inside a ring, drawn as a logo rather than a cartoon.
The head is a white shape with a pointed beak on the left and a round dark eye. On top sits a black comb, and behind it a rounded wattle or ear lobe hangs down. A thick crescent wraps around the right and bottom of the head, so the neck, back and tail flow into one sweeping circle. A thin tail tip rises at the top right.
The overall form is nearly square and round, so it scales cleanly from an egg-box label to a large door panel. Because the head is an open shape, whatever surface lies behind it fills the face, which helps it stand out on a dark coop or a painted wooden sign.
