The bald eagle has been the emblem of the United States since 1782, when it was placed on the Great Seal, and it remains one of the most recognisable birds anywhere. This sticker shows it gliding, its wide wings stretched across the whole design and the head turned down and to the right.
The trick that makes it look like a bald eagle is the white head. It is cut out of the vinyl so the surface behind shows through, giving a pale head and neck against the dark body without any second colour. A hooked beak and a small eye mark finish the profile, and a foot with curled talons hangs below the body.
The wing tips are long and fingered, as a soaring eagle's are, and the whole form is wider than it is tall, with the left wing swept up and back. Trucks, boats, garage doors and workshop walls are the usual homes for it, wherever a big dark wingspan suits the space.
