Compared with the swallowtail and three-point banners in this range, this one has the simplest finish: the lower red band is cut in from both corners to meet in one sharp point, like a shield or a classic pennant.

It hangs from a thin gold rod with arrowhead tips, with soft folds running down the cloth and a darker crease under the rod. Red, white and red sit in equal bands, the colours Austria has flown since the Babenberg era, and the pointed base draws the eye downwards on a door or a narrow wall.
