This beaver looks like it has just climbed out of a cold river. The outline is broken into short bristles along the back, the cheeks and the haunches, so the animal looks wet, heavy and a little bad-tempered, with its lower teeth showing as a few small spikes below the nose.

The paddle tail is the clearest feature: a long, rounded, flat shape that trails along the ground, wide at the end, exactly as it does on the real animal. The body is one solid mass, so at 30cm the shape reads as strongly as a stamp.

One beaver faces right and the other faces left, giving a matching pair for the sides of a truck, a trailer, a duck boat or a canoe. The rough outline suits hunting and fishing gear, a toolbox, a cabin sign or a cooler. Black is clean on pale paint; white or tan looks sharp on a dark panel.
