Nigo founded A Bathing Ape in Tokyo's Harajuku district in 1993, named it after a line about apes bathing in lukewarm water, and put this head on everything from the first camo hoodies to the BAPE STA trainer. It is one of the most recognisable marks in streetwear: a solid silhouette of a primate's head with a shaggy jawline, the heavy brow, nose and small mouth cut out as negative space so the face appears through the colour behind.
Collectors put it on sneaker boxes, display cases and the lids of laptops; it also turns up on skateboards, car windows, fridges, bedroom doors and the back of a phone. The pack has two copies, so a pair can face the same way on two surfaces or sit side by side as on the cover image.
Cut from a single colour of vinyl with no background, which suits the two-tone look of the original. Choose from 19 colours; black is classic, and a bright colour on white gives the camo-era feel.
