Looking for a Betty Boop that is not the usual front-on pose? This one has her back to the viewer, hands on her hips and her face turned over one shoulder with a sideways glance. A scatter of small stars floats around her head, and her strapless gown clings down to a flared fishtail hem, with star-shaped spots cut into the panel on one side.

The solid hair, the dark gown and the stars are all cut in one colour, with the face, shoulders and the spotted panel left open so the surface behind shows through. The stars float free of the figure, which makes it look best when you leave a little space around it rather than crowding it against an edge.

Because she is shown from behind, the left-facing and right-facing copies work as a proper pair: put them back to back on a window, or side by side above a mirror. Betty Boop has been an animation icon since 1930, and the glamour-pose treatment here belongs to the pin-up end of her range.
