Put this side by side with the narrow solid version and the M is what separates them. Here the central V is cut deep, almost to the baseline, which opens the right-hand end of the word and stops the three letters reading as one dense mass. The letterforms are wider overall, so at a given width the letters sit lower and the mark spreads further.
It is a good middle choice. Filled letters mean no fragile strokes and no minimum-size problem, while the deeper notch and wider set keep it from looking as heavy as the bold italic cut on a large panel.
