The bear's own outline stays whole and solid, and the landscape is cut out of it: a jagged mountain range climbs across the shoulders and sides, with long thin ridge lines running down from the summits to suggest snow gullies. Seen from a distance you get a bear, up close you get a view of the mountains.

The effect is a double exposure drawn in a single colour, a popular style for hikers, climbers and anyone who has a particular range in their head when they think of the outdoors. Because the peaks are open vinyl, the surface behind shows through, so a white car, a blue kayak or a wooden shed each gives the mountains a different tone.
