Is the bear going up or coming down? The drawing deliberately leaves it open. The animal hugs a slanting, leafless trunk with its body hanging along the line of the wood, one forearm lifted over a limb and its face turned back out of the picture. The thin side branches fork off in every direction.
It is a more open and angular scene than the leafy cub in the same range. The bear is a dense black shape, the tree is a thick diagonal with a pale grain line cut along it, and the twigs are single fine strokes. Using it at 20cm or above keeps the twigs strong; the tape holds them in position as one piece.
The slanted layout suits a corner: the top of a window, the angle between wall and ceiling, or the rear quarter glass of a car. The two copies are mirrored, so one leans left and one leans right, and they can sit either side of a doorway or a cabin sign.
