The close sibling of this sticker shows a hand raised from the bottom with the thumb up. This one is different in the details that matter: the arm enters from the right, the hand is a tight fist wrapped round the pole, and the sleeve is turned back in a wide blue cuff, so the pose feels firmer and more defiant.
The flag is the same national flag of Benin. It waves above the fist in a smooth curve, with the green band hugging the pole and the yellow and red blocks flowing away to the right. Delicate shadows in the folds keep the colours from looking flat, and the pole shades from white to grey along its length.
Because the arm sticks out to one side, this sticker is wider than the raised-hand one and fits a landscape space well: the top of a laptop, the corner of a car window, the lid of a toolbox or the front of a folder.
Benin celebrates its independence from France on 1 August, and that is a good day to put it up. Pair it with the thumb-up version if you want two different poses on opposite sides of a bag or vehicle.
