Blumfeld formed in Hamburg in 1991 and became one of the central bands of the Hamburger Schule, the wave of German-language indie rock in the early 1990s. Their albums include Ich-Maschine from 1992, L'Etat et moi in 1994 and Old Nobody in 1999, and the band's name shows up on stickers wherever those records are loved.
The lettering in this version is tall and tightly packed: eight narrow capitals, the B and the D with wide round bowls, the M with straight stems, and slightly rough, worn edges all the way round. It reads as a block, so it sits well as a plain label on a record crate, a bass case, a laptop or a rear window.
Condensed capitals like these keep their shape at small sizes, and the straight stems are easy to line up on a flat surface. White vinyl on dark panels is bold; black on a pale case gives a printed-poster look.
