Mice are among the most-kept small pets there are, and the fancy mouse — the domesticated form of the house mouse — has been bred in captivity for well over a century. The features this silhouette exaggerates are the real ones: ears far larger in proportion to the head than most rodents, a pointed snout, and a tail roughly as long as the body, which a mouse uses for balance when climbing.
The drawing catches them in the pose anyone who keeps mice will recognise instantly — sat up on the haunches, front paws tucked in at the chest, tail sweeping round to one side. Cutting it as a solid silhouette rather than an outline means the shape stays clean and readable, right down to the small sizes that suit a cage panel or a food tub.
