How do you draw a bear so it looks heavy and fast at the same time? This design does it with sweeping white lines cut across a mostly black body: they trace the shoulder, the arm, the thigh and the back of the leg, and give the shape the look of a woodcut. Fur stands up in short spikes along the spine and the back of the head.
The pose is a half turn. The body leans forward at the shoulder, one paw reaches ahead with claws spread, the other arm hangs by the side, the head is thrown back and the jaw is open. The hind feet end in broad flat soles, as a bear's do. It is a muscular, slightly menacing drawing that suits tattoo-style art.
One bear faces right and the other faces left, so you can put them on opposite sides of a truck or a trailer and have both look forward. The size range works from a helmet badge to a full door panel at 50cm or more.
