Does a bear need to look realistic to look real? This one is drawn as if it had been cut into a block with a gouge: the body is dense black, and across the back, shoulder and flank run ragged patches of white, some like torn paper, some like specks, where the cutter has lifted the surface. The muzzle is pale, with a few black flecks for the nose and mouth.
That roughness is what gives it character. Because the white parts are open vinyl, the sticker shows the colour of the surface behind and picks up the texture of it, so the same bear looks different on white paint, tinted glass or bare wood. The legs are short and heavy, the head low.
The detail is fine in places, so it works best at 15cm or above, and it looks great at a large size across a van door or an interior wall. One bear walks right and one walks left, with a pair suited to either side of a vehicle or a pair of matching items.
