The striped bass is the Atlantic coast's great game fish, running up the Hudson, the Chesapeake tributaries and the rivers of the Carolinas each spring to spawn, and chased by surfcasters from Cape Cod to the Outer Banks every autumn. Transplanted to the Pacific and landlocked in reservoirs, it is just as prized there. The stripes are the giveaway: seven or eight unbroken dark lines along a silver flank.
This cut shows all of that. The body curves into a jump with the forked tail swept down and under, the spiny dorsal stands up, the gill plate is drawn with its ridges, the mouth is open and the lateral stripes run the full length of the fish. It is line art with solid fins, so the body is open to the surface beneath while the fins and tail are full vinyl.
Two stickers come in each pack as mirror images, one leaping left and one right, for a boat's port and starboard sides or the two corners of a truck's rear window. At the 10cm preset it is a tackle-box badge; 30cm is the hull size; custom sizes to 120cm are cut for a garage or a bait-shop window. Nineteen colours are available, with white the natural choice on dark gelcoat.
