Applying a two-piece lockup

Because the oval and the wordmark are separate, the gap between them is set at application rather than fixed in the cut. Position the wordmark first — it is the wider element and the one the eye uses to judge whether the badge is straight — then centre the oval above it. On a tall panel the two can be spaced further apart than the artwork suggests without it looking wrong; on a shallow one they can be closed right up.

The wordmark itself is outlined rather than solid: the letters are formed by their own stroke with the centres cut through, and the leading A is the same shard device that appears in the oval above.

Suits a leather back panel, a tail unit, a van side door, a race trailer or a garage wall.
