Robert Blackburn built his first aeroplane in Leeds in 1909 and founded the company in 1914. It went on to produce the Skua dive-bomber of the Second World War, the Beverley transport and, later, the Buccaneer naval strike jet, before it was merged into Hawker Siddeley in the 1960s. The name survives mostly in books, museums and on the sides of restored aircraft.
This sticker uses the script and bar style: a heavy slanted serif word, Blackburn, with a long tail that sweeps under the letters and thickens into a black slab. AIRCRAFT is cut out of the slab in wide-spaced capitals, so the surface shows through the letters.
It is a wide mark that fits cleanly on a hangar door, a toolbox, the back of a pilot's flight case, a model-making bench or the edge of a classic car's window. Two copies come in the pack, so you can display one and keep the other.
