Bass players put this on the amp head, the cab, the gig bag and the back of the headstock. Cellists and double-bassists put it on the case; trombone and tuba players on the mute bag; pianists and composers on the lid of the laptop they write on. It is also the simplest gift sticker for anyone who plays the low end, because it says what they do without a word.
The symbol is drawn properly: a heavy, almost circular head that opens into a wide curve, thinning all the way down to a fine point, with the two dots set to the right of the curve. On a stave those dots sit either side of the fourth line, marking it as F below middle C, which is why the sign is also called the F clef. The cut keeps the thick-to-thin contrast of a printed clef rather than flattening it into a uniform stroke.
Two identical stickers come in each pack. At the 10cm preset the clef is about 10cm tall, which suits a case or a laptop; 20–30cm fills a cab front or a window; custom sizes to 120cm are cut for a studio or classroom wall. Nineteen colours are available; black on a pale wall, white on a black cab or tinted glass, gold on a case.
