Base Ball Bear are a rock band from Tokyo who formed in 2001 while still at school, made their major-label debut in 2006 and built a following on fast, bright guitar songs with a clean pop edge. Their first full album, C, arrived in 2007, and the band have kept releasing and touring in Japan since, with a reputation for sharp playing and lyrics about youth and city life.
The logo is as angular as the music: every letter squared off, the counters reduced to narrow slots, the three words set with no spaces, and a bracket that curls round the final r to close the mark. It is cut here as one long strip, roughly six times wider than it is tall, which makes it a natural fit for the bottom edge of a laptop screen, the back of a phone, a guitar case rib or the side of a pedalboard.
Two copies come in each pack. The wordmark is a single colour with no background, so on a black case a white cut reads cleanly and on a pale wall or window black does the job. Any of the 19 colours can be chosen, including pink and aqua for a brighter look.
