This is the bat as an emblem rather than a portrait, the kind of shape a vampire story or a gothic club would put on its door. The wingspan is nearly three times the body length, each wing ends in a claw-like hook, the membrane scallops between the finger bones and the body comes to a point like an arrowhead. Nothing about it is cuddly.
Real bats do glide like this between beats, and the hooked wing tips are a true feature: the thumb claw at the leading edge of the wing. The decal exaggerates them into the Dracula silhouette that has been used in film titles and on book covers for a century.
Cut from one piece of vinyl in one colour, it is wide and shallow, so it fits above a door, across the top of a window, along a laptop edge or the rear window of a car. At the 10cm preset it is a small badge; 30cm spreads across a pane; custom sizes to 120cm are cut for a shop front or a feature wall. Two identical stickers come in each pack. Nineteen colours are available, and black on glass or a pale wall is the natural pick.
