Which bat is this? The one on the downbeat. Of the ten or so bat silhouettes in this range, this is the one with both wings swept down and back as if caught in the middle of a wing-stroke, which gives it a fuller, more rounded shape than the wide-open gliding bats. The ears stand straight up between the wings and the feet trail below, so it reads as a living animal rather than a logo.
It is cut from one piece of vinyl in one colour, with no background and no interior detail. The scalloped trailing edge of each wing is the detail that makes it a bat at a glance, and it holds even at the 10cm preset on a jar, a phone or a bottle. At 20–30cm it suits a window or a door, and custom sizes to 120cm are cut for a Halloween wall or a shop front.
Two identical stickers come in each pack. Scatter several packs in a loose flock across a window for October, keep one on a laptop all year, or use it as a mark for a bat-walk group or a wildlife garden. Nineteen colours are available; black is the obvious choice, white works on dark glass, and the design cuts cleanly in any of them.
