Two curled-corner Barbados flags sit in this range and the difference is the edge. The other is cut flush to the flag; this one keeps a narrow white border all the way round, which frames the flag like a printed label and helps it stand out on dark glass or a navy car. The gold here is also a touch warmer, closer to orange, and the top-right corner lifts and curls over with a soft fold of light across the cloth.

Pick this version for a tinted rear window, a black laptop, a dark suitcase or a navy cricket bag, where a flush-cut blue flag would lose its outline; pick the flush version for pale surfaces. Either way it is the plain, straightforward Barbados flag.

The design dates from independence on 30 November 1966: ultramarine for the sea and sky, gold for the sand, and the black trident broken off at the shaft to mark the break with the colonial past, its three prongs for government of, for and by the people.
