The gold-framed badges in this set all use the same ring treatment, and the choice between them comes down to proportion. This is the upright one. Because the oval stands taller than it is wide, the three horizontal bands are cut short at the sides and stacked closer together, so the flag reads as a compact block of colour with the sun sitting large in the middle of it. The round and hexagonal versions spread the bands wider; the rectangular one keeps them full length.
Upright also means it fits where a wide badge will not — a door pillar, the narrow panel beside a handle, a bottle, a phone case, the spine of a folder.
Inside the ring is the ceremonial national flag: celeste, white and celeste bands with the Sol de Mayo centred. The sun bears a human face drawn from Inti, the Inca sun god, and thirty-two rays alternating straight and wavy. It marks the May Revolution of 1810 and was added in 1818 to Manuel Belgrano's flag of 1812.
