This is the round medal version of the Benin flag. The flag fills a glass dome in the middle, and two rings circle it: a silver band on the inside that catches the light, and a polished gold rim on the outside. Below, two gold ribbon tails with fine dark seams complete the rosette outline.

The dome is glossy. A curved highlight runs across the green band, and the yellow and red blocks keep a smooth, bright surface, so the colours look wet and rich. The green band holds roughly the left two-fifths of the circle, with yellow sitting above red on the right, as on the national flag.

Benin sits on the Gulf of Guinea in West Africa, between Togo and Nigeria, with Porto-Novo as its capital and Cotonou as the busy port city. The flag colours are in the Pan-African palette and appear on many national flags across the continent.
