Which shape suits a wide flag best? An oval keeps the proportions of the Benin flag while softening the corners, and that is what this sticker does. The ellipse stretches across the sticker, the green hoist band is trimmed by the curve on the left, and the yellow and red blocks fill the right half.
Glossy light curves run across the green and the red, like highlights on a polished button. A slim gold rim follows the oval, and two gold ribbon tails drop from the bottom edge, each marked by a dark seam. Together they make a landscape medal.
The flag colours stand for hope, the wealth of the north and ancestral courage in the usual reading, and Benin's tricolour was first raised by Dahomey in 1959 before being restored in 1990. Today the country is known for its Vodun traditions, the stilt village of Ganvie on Lake Nokoue and the busy port of Cotonou.
The oval fits a laptop palm rest, a car rear window, a tool chest, a drum case or the side of a suitcase, and it matches the other Benin badges in this range for anyone building a coordinated set.
